Optimise is an automation support and technology consultancy based on the Isle of Guernsey, specialising in assisting organisations and government departments embarking on their digital transformation journeys.

Challenge

Optimise was engaged by a high-profile customer who required a team of experienced developers to enhance their business rules engine (BRE).

The end customer was in the midst of a three-year digital transformation programme involving multiple third parties and technical delivery teams. However, the project faced setbacks due to delays caused by some third parties failing to deliver on time and demonstrating poor communication.

As a result, a critical area of development required replacing an underperforming third party with a reliable team that had a proven track record of taking over and successfully delivering stalled software projects.

Having previously collaborated with CCQ Tech on another project, Optimise identified them as the ideal team to assist with this challenging endeavour.

Solution

CCQ Tech joined the Optimise team and worked collaboratively on the end client’s project during the last eight months of 2022.

CCQ Tech provided the foundational Java code for a Camunda process modelling automation, enabling efficient coding of specific interactions with other systems and streamlining the decision-making process.

The team also facilitated business processes by integrating Microsoft Dynamics (MS Dynamics) and Microsoft BizTalk Server (MS BizTalk Server).

While Optimise managed the overall project, CCQ Tech provided ongoing support, actively participating in scrum teams, daily stand-ups, and collaborative planning sessions to ensure seamless delivery.

Results

The project’s initial success was measured by timely delivery and high quality. CCQ Tech met both objectives, delivering the project on schedule and within budget. This success led to securing an additional eight months of development work, valued at over £350,000.

Looking ahead, CCQ Tech developers continue to play an integral role as part of a scrum team, with delivery cycles structured around two-week sprints.
